Special Coverage: Haiti Update
The Jan. 12, 2010, 7.0 earthquake that struck Haiti left more than 200,000 dead; displaced 1.5 million and damaged or destroyed some 300,000 buildings. The United Methodist Church was among those who rushed to respond.
When the hurricane hit Haiti in 2016, the Methodist Church had preparations ready in Haiti. In isolated areas, there was were people and supplies ready to serve before the wind, water, and disaster hit. UMC work and services continue in 2019 as recovery is still ongoing.
Haiti holds a special place in the hearts of many in Coloma United Methodist Church, and in the Michigan Area Conference.
