Coloma United Methodist Church
The photo at the left shows the choir and the church singing the Hallelujah Chorus, at the end of service on Easter morning some years ago, a longtime CUMC Easter tradition.
For 2017 the choir and the worship committee agreed to a slightly different approach. The choir sang an Easter medley of hymns ending in a short piece of the Hallelujah Chorus. The congregation was asked to participate in singing the Chorus portion from their seats (no longer pews, but chairs), near the end of the choir performance.
These days there is a noticeable absence of hats and gloves on Easter Sunday. We may have slightly changed the Hallelujah Chorus from previous years, and a few other traditions. Be assured, however, we shall never fail to celebrate the resurrection of Christ our Saviour and the love of the Lord our God. You are invited to celebrate with us throughout the year, including Lent, Holy Week, and especially Easter morning!
The choir begins its summer hiatus in mid June. Special music, usually by guest musicians, enhances the worship experience during the summer months. Since April, we have been looking for musicians, singers, choral groups, to schedule for summer music. Could that be you?
